About InterPore Journal
AIMS
InterPore Journal is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal, fully owned and published by the International Society for Porous Media (InterPore). Our mission is to advance knowledge and research on porous media systems, with a particular focus on their technical and industrial applications. We provide a trusted medium for sharing insights into the processes and phenomena involved, strengthening collaboration across disciplines and within the global research community.
Our overarching goal is to serve as the focal point for the worldwide porous media community by publishing high-quality, peer-reviewed work across a wide range of multidisciplinary and multiscale topics in porous media science and technology.
A key aspect of our mission is to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The research published in this journal directly contributes to SDGs 2, 4, 6, 7, 9, 12, 13, and 15.
SCOPE
InterPore Journal welcomes contributions from the worldwide porous media research community, including academia, industry, and national and international institutions. The journal embraces both fundamental and applied research, spanning geological, industrial, environmental, and biological applications of porous media. Submissions may focus on experimental, numerical, theoretical, or data-driven approaches, and are expected to advance understanding, innovation, or practical application in the field.
TOPICS COVERED
InterPore Journal publishes research on porous media across scales, disciplines, and applications. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Flow and transport phenomena in porous systems (single- and multiphase flow, reactive transport, adsorption, chemical interactions)
- Imaging and modeling at pore to continuum scales, including advanced numerical and experimental methods, and multiscale methods
- Characterization and material design for natural and engineered porous structures
- Energy and environmental applications, such as CO₂ sequestration, geothermal systems, hydrogen storage, batteries, and fuel cells
- Geological and environmental systems, including soils, aquifers, subsurface reservoirs, and contaminant transport
- Biological and medical porous media, such as tissues, membranes, and bio-inspired materials
- Industrial processes involving porous media, including drying, foams, emulsions, catalysis, and filtration technologies
- Data-driven approaches, including big data analysis, machine learning, and artificial intelligence in porous media research
ARTICLE TYPES
InterPore Journal publishes a diverse range of content to reflect the breadth of porous media research and practice:
- Original research papers, technical notes, and review articles presenting state-of-the-art porous media research and applications, with perspectives for future directions.
- Open datasets and source codes that provide valuable resources for the community.
- Letters to the Editor, short communications, invited commentaries, and opinion pieces enabling rapid exchange, reflection, and debate.
For more information on the various article types and sections, please see here.
VISIBILITY AND IMPACT
Publishing in InterPore Journal offers a unique advantage: direct reach to a highly targeted audience of porous media researchers, professionals, and stakeholders. Articles are promoted through multiple InterPore platforms, including the widely distributed InterPore Newsletter, social media channels, and conference networks, significantly enhancing the visibility and impact of published work.
The journal maintains a robust peer-review system, drawing on experts from the InterPore community to ensure quality and relevance. Despite its recent launch, InterPore Journal has established itself as a promising platform with all the elements needed to become a leading publication in porous media science and technology.
We invite authors to support our mission and contribute to the growth of this journal by sharing their research, insights, and resources.
