Duties and Responsibilities of the Publisher

InterPore, as the publisher of the InterPore Journal, is committed to the long-term stewardship, accuracy, and integrity of the scholarly record. We view the journal as a permanent record of scientific progress and accept our responsibility to preserve, protect, and maintain that record. Our role is to support the substantial efforts of editors and reviewers, whose contributions are essential to maintaining publication quality and ethical standards.

We fully support the principles of open access as defined in the “Berlin Declaration on Open Access to Knowledge in the Sciences and Humanities” (2003). All content published by the InterPore Journal can be freely read, downloaded, and used via the internet, and the license for published content remains with the authors.

As the publisher, we also provide financial and organizational support to ensure that the journal has the necessary software, systems, support, and staff to function effectively. This includes the appointment of an Editor-in-Chief and the resources required for efficient management and high-quality publication processes.

The publisher ensures that editorial decisions are made independently and solely on the basis of scholarly merit and relevance. No commercial considerations—including advertising, sponsorship, conference revenue, or organizational priorities—may influence editorial judgment. Editors retain full autonomy throughout the peer-review and decision-making process.

To assist editors in maintaining high standards of ethical publishing, the publisher provides tools and systems that support consistent and transparent editorial workflows. This includes the use of Crossref Similarity Check for all submitted manuscripts, enabling rigorous detection of plagiarism and related concerns. The publisher continues to improve editorial processes and works collaboratively with editors to uphold best practices in scholarly communication.

The publisher provides editors with the necessary technical, procedural, and, when required, legal support to manage submissions and resolve ethical concerns. Where helpful, the publisher may facilitate communication with other journals or publishers to ensure proper handling of issues related to publication ethics or the scholarly record.

Editors are required to disclose any financial or non-financial competing interests that may affect, or appear to affect, their editorial decisions. Disclosures should be made as soon as relevant interests arise and may be published on the journal website or within relevant articles when appropriate. Competing interests may include academic affiliations, advisory positions, consultancies, patents or patent applications, significant financial interests, or leadership roles in related organizations.

Editors must not participate in the review or editorial decision-making of manuscripts they have authored or co-authored, or that involve family members, close colleagues, or products or research areas in which they have a direct interest. In such cases, the publisher will ensure that an independent editor oversees the entire review and decision process to maintain objectivity.

All individuals involved in editorial processes must treat submitted manuscripts and all related communications as strictly confidential. Non-public information obtained during the review or handling of submissions may not be used for personal, professional, or financial advantage.

The publisher supports the maintenance of a transparent and trustworthy scholarly record. When concerns arise regarding published work, errors, or potential misconduct, the publisher works with editors to address issues consistently and responsibly, ensuring that corrections, retractions, or clarifications are issued when needed.
