It shows Ostwald ripening of calcite crystals, beginning with dense accumulations of tiny crystals formed under conditions of high supersaturation. The image was shared with the authors by Assoc. Prof. Bate Bate of Zhejiang University, China, and was used in a poster presented at InterPore2026.
